Serbian club Jagodina announced on its website today that they have signed Nikola Jakimovski to a 2 year deal.
Nikola Jakimovski, who will turn 24 years old next month, moves to Serbia after spending last year with Nagoya in Japan. Jakimovski returns to Serbian football as he previously played for Javor. It was from Javor that he moved to Nagoya for one year before his decision to join Jagodina today. Nikola was allowed to look for a new club by Nagoya as he was not in the plans of the new manager. Jakimovski was brought to Japan by then manager Dragan Stojkovic and his assistant Boshko Gjurovski, but both of those coaches left Nagoya at the conclusion of the 2013 season.
Jagodina had two Macedonian players on its roster during the first half of the season in Predrag Rangjelovikj and Dragan Stojkov, but both of them were released. Now, Jakimovski will join Jagodina, a club that finds itself in 3rd place at the midway point of the current 2013-14 season. They trail the two Serbian giants in Partizan and Crvena Zvezda.
Jakimovski was linked with Sevilla earlier in this transfer window, but that proved to be just speculation. Instead, Nikola will look to resurrect his career with Jagodina. Last season, he did not score a goal in 15 league appearances for Nagoya. Additionally, Jakimovski then dealt with an injury that limited his playing time in the final few months of the season.
