Attacker Ilco Naumoski scored his fourth goal of the season for Mattersburg during today’s 2:1 loss against Rapid Wien.
Ilco Naumoski played up front for Mattersburg in a 4-4-2 formation where he was partnered by fellow striker Patrick Bürger. Naumoski scored the lone goal for Mattersburg in the 45th minute and played until the 64th minute when he was substituted by Thorsten Röcher. Mattersburg led 1:0 at the time of the substitution but Rapid Wien managed to score two goals in the 69th and 79th minute to record a come from behind victory that moved them into a tie for first place on the table.
The goal by Naumoski in the 45th minute came following a long goal kick from the Mattersburg keeper which was misplayed by the Rapid Wien defenders and goalkeeper which led to Naumoski capitalizing on the mistake and giving Mattersburg the 1:0 lead just before halftime. The goal was extra special for Naumoski since he spent a couple of years playing for the Rapid Wien youth system earlier in his career before the club then decided to part ways with Ilco.
After a slow start to the season, Naumoski has now scored all of his four goals during the past five league games for Mattersburg. However, Mattersburg suffered another loss and remained second from bottom on the table with only 13 points after 16 league games in the Austrian top division.
