Ilco Naumoski handed four game suspension

Ilco Naumoski given 4 game suspension; photo: svm-fan.netAfter picking up a red card this past week, Ilco Naumoski has been suspended for four games and given six months of probation by the Austrian football association.

The punishment has been handed regarding the Naumoski red card and Ilco will serve yet another suspension.  The members of the Austrian football association gave Ilco a four game suspension and put him on probation for six months.  Despite the four game suspension, Ilco will only miss the next two games while the other two games of his suspension will be decided during the six month probation.  That means Naumoski will be eligible to return for Mattersburg beginning on 10 September 2011 during a road game against Rapid Wien.  Naumoski will surely receive heavy boos from the Rapid Wien fans as he used to play for their youth system and has made some comments in the past that have angered the fans.

Ilco Naumoski has certainly let his temper get the best of him on many occasions throughout his career but many in Austria do agree this time that the referee made a bad decision to give Naumoski a red card.  Even the manager on the other side said this was a red card that only Ilco could get because of his bad reputation.  The foul was indeed unnecessary but it was not blatant in any way and certainly not worthy of a red card.  However, the Austrian association handed a severe punishment to Ilco because he is a repeat offender and will receive no favors from the members of the association.

This suspension also means that new Macedonian manager John Toshack will probably not count on Naumoski for the two EURO 2012 qualifiers to be played in early September since Naumoski will not be playing for the next couple of weeks and that will negatively affect the shape he is in.  Although Naumoski is the leading scorer for Macedonia with two goals during the EURO 2012 qualifications, caretaker manager Boban Babunski dropped him from the national team for the recent friendly against Azerbaijan.  Babunski will meet with Toshack in Spain and inform him about the potential of the team and also the characteristics of the various players on the national team.
