After Vlatko Grozdanoski and Bazhe Ilijoski, Ilcho Naumoski was the latest player to criticize both John Toshack and the current FFM management.
Attacker Bazhe Ilijoski and midfielder Vlatko Grozdanoski expressed their feelings about the recent squad of the national team for the upcoming friendlies against Portugal and Angola, and now Ilcho Naumoski has followed with more criticism.
Mattersburg’s forward was not among the summoned players and expressed his thoughts to a newspaper. In an interview with Makedonski Sport, Naumoski said the following, “I don’t want to be misunderstood. I am not complaining because I am not called up. This is not the first time that Tochack, as manager, has forgotten me. But, I have to express my views. I can’t tolerate the same people in the team who are working against the interests of the national team. At this moment, they have nothing against me. I am playing well, scoring goals, assisting, serving as captain of Mattersburg, a team who plays against quality competition. Instead, they have called up players who announced they will boycott the national team, and players who have more appearances for the national team then they do with their own clubs.”
Ilcho Naumoski defended Bazhe Ilijoski’s opinion, “He is in fine form in Romania and he is absolutely right. I mean, to have players from Albania, Thailand and Serbia before Austria and Romania. What is the criteria for the selections”?
Naumoski then went on to criticize Haralampie Hadji-Risteski, “I might be the first national team player to say this, but someone has to. The president of FFM is the most responsible for this situation. We are losing to Luxermbourg, we are near the 100th FIFA position on the standings. There must be accountability when things go wrong and that is – first the manager, then the president. In Austria, there have been four presidents of the federation in the past 10 years. That is not the case in Macedonia where it is a dictatorship, and it has to end sooner rather then later.”
Ilcho also shared some interesting information about manager John Toshack, “Above all else, Toshack loves the Ohrid trout. In every meeting with the players, the first thing that he mentions is the Ohrid trout. How can I speak to him about football then? And, not only him but also other people from the federation. They don’t know a thing about football. It’s a disaster!”
