Macedonian striker Hristijan Kirovski scored a goal for Apollon in today’s 2:0 victory over Ethnikos Achnas to ensure a losing start for new Ethnikos Achnas manager Cedomir Janevski.
Cypriot newspapers are reporting that Hristijan Kirovski should have actually scored two goals during the game but his goal in the 45th minute was wrongly disallowed for offside by the assistant referee. However, Kirovski did end up scoring a goal later in the game when he reached the back of the net from close range in the 65th minute by beating Macedonian keeper Edin Nuredinoski after a mistake by Ethnikos Achnas player Abdelkarim Kissi. That was the second and final goal of the game for Apollon after they initially took the lead in the 17th minute.
Kirovski played all 90 minutes for Apollon as the manager preferred him over fellow striker João Paulo. As for Ethnikos Achnas, Cedomir Janevski managed his first game since taking over earlier in the week. Edin Nuredinoski played from the start for the club at keeper and conceded two goals while his Macedonian teammate Stojan Ignjatov was not called up because of an injury.
This was Kirovski’s second league goal in five appearances for Apollon. With the win, Apollon now has seven points after six rounds while Ethnikos Achnas remains with only two points.
