According to Makedonski Sport, German club Hertha Berlin has already begun negotiations with Vardar about the potential transfer of striker Filip Ivanovski.
Another player from the Macedonian top division could be heading to the German Bundesliga with today’s rumors linking Vardar striker Filip Ivanovski with Hertha Berlin. Daily newspaper Makedonski Sport has learned that Hertha has already begun discussions with Vardar about Ivanovski after showing an interest in his services. Hertha has apparently sent scouts to several Vardar games this season and has been pleased with the performance of Ivanovski.
Filip is the captain for Vardar and scored 14 goals in 17 league games during the first half of the season. He has played abroad in both Poland and Cyprus but had the most success during his stint with Polonia Warszawa from 2008 to 2010. Ivanovski spent last year with Ethnikos Achnas in Cyprus but received limited playing time before being released earlier in the summer. Filip then signed with Vardar where he has become a key player with his performances.
Ivanovski plays as a CF and the Hertha interest does not seem to be a good match on paper since the German club already has two good CF’s on the roster in Adrián Ramos and Pierre-Michel Lasogga. However, if this transfer does get finalized, Ivanovski would be the second player to go directly from the top league in Macedonia to the German Bundesliga after Ferhan Hasani transferred to Wolfsburg. Both Ivanovski and Hasani are currently competing in a poll on Facebook about who was the best player during the first half of the season in the Macedonian First league.
The 26-year-old Ivanovski recently returned to the Macedonian national team thanks to his good form with Vardar. To date, Filip has made 7 appearances and scored one goal during a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Iceland. Ivanovski scored the second goal for Macedonia in a 2:0 home victory.
