The group stage of the Macedonian Cup for Victoria concluded today with Lalor United Sloga, Altona Magic, Plenty Valley Lions and Preston Lions advancing to the semi-finals.
The host team of Lalor United Sloga surprised mostly everyone with their win against one of the main favorites in Preston Lions and thus won Group A. Preston Lions managed to rebound and destroyed Shepparton in the other game of group play so they also claimed a spot in the semi-finals by being the best runner-up. After a goalless draw in the first game against Geelong, Altona Magic then defeated Noble Park and the won Group B. The last Group was won by Plenty Valley Lions. It is interesting that all the teams claimed at least a point, but not everyone managed to score a goal as Shepparton and Geelong failed to reach the back of the net.

Tomorrow, the two semi-final matches will be played along with the final. The hosts Lalor United Sloga, as the best group winner, will once again face Preston Lions in one of the semi-final matchups.
