The 31-year-old Grncharov moves to Ukraine from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv.  In the end, after Boban’s contract was terminated by Botev due to a disagreement with its sporting director, he made a step up in his career by moving to a better league.

Grncharov arrived in Ukraine this past Monday to negotiate a contract with Tavriya.  Boban had said after his departure from Botev that he planned on choosing a new team quickly.  Tavriya showed the most interest as their manager Nikolay Kostov is familiar with Grncharov’s qualities.  Kostov, who recently became Tavriya manager, had coached in Bulgaria and Cyprus, two places where Boban has also played in during his career, so he felt comfortable enough in bringing the Macedonian CB.  Boban has begun training for his new club who is currently on their winter preparations.

This will be Grncharov’s third team in Ukraine after Metalurh Donetsk and Stal Alchevsk.  Tavriya is just one point above the relegation zone, so they will have work to do once the second half of the season resumes in late February.
