The knee injury was also the reason why Goran Popov missed yesterday’s league game against Tavriya which ended 0:0.  The Dynamo Kyiv team doctor made the following statement today about Goran Popov, “There is a problem with his knee, pain and damage to the meniscus.  Goran will definitely not play in Thursday’s Europa League clash against Beşiktaş in Turkey.  Now, Goran is treated carefully and we will see how the knee injury responds to treatment.  If the knee does not get better, then I wouldn’t rule out a surgical operation.”

The injury also means that Goran Popov will surely miss the upcoming friendly for the Macedonian national team against Albania on 15 November in Prilep.  The timetable of his return in uncertain at this point but the injury comes at a bad time for Dynamo Kyiv who have important matches coming up in both the Europa League and domestic league.  Popov’s backup at LB has not seen much action this season so that could present problems for Dynamo Kyiv with the lack of match fitness.
