The 27-year-old Goran Popov received the necessary work permit this afternoon, passed his medical and officially completed his move to West Bromwich Albion just before the deadline expired on the final day of the summer transfer window.  He will be a Baggies player on a season long loan from Dynamo Kyiv with WBA also having the option to purchase him outright next summer.  The left back will wear the jersey number 4 for his new club.

Although Popov passed his medical today, he won’t be eligible to play in tomorrow’s clash against Everton.  Instead, Popov should make his West Bromwich debut on 15 September away to Fulham, after the international break which sees Popov in the Macedonian squad for the qualifiers against Croatia and Scotland.

Steve Clark, the manager of West Bromwich, said the following on the club’s official website, “Goran is an established, experienced left-back who is tall, powerful, good on the ball and likes to get forward.  I’m sure he will settle in really well with us in the Premier League.  Goran is a player the club has closely monitored for around three years so we know what we are getting.  I’ve said many times over the past few weeks that we’ve been looking to bring in one more defender and I’m delighted we’ve managed to sign Goran.  He has also given up the opportunity to play Champions League football with Dynamo Kiev to join Albion in the Premier League and he’s determined to do well here.”
