Georgievski remains with Melbourne Victory

Daniel GeorgievskiDaniel Georgievski has signed a 2 year contract extension to stay in Australia with Melbourne Victory.

Melbourne Victory and Daniel Georgievski were initially at odds over price, but eventually the two sides found a suitable number. On their website, the defending Australian champions announced the 2 year extension for Georgievski. Daniel had wanted to stay with Melbourne Victory, and vice versa, so this new deal will benefit both the club and player.

Georgievski, a natural right-back, was asked to play left-back last season. He excelled there and quickly became a fan favorite, playing a key role in the club’s success during the 2014-15 campaign.

On the team’s website, Daniel made the following statement, “I have enjoyed every minute of my time at Melbourne Victory so far and I was very keen to re-sign so I’m thrilled to be staying for another two seasons.”

Manager Kevin Muscat was also happy with the extension, noting, “Daniel made a significant contribution to our successful 2014/15 season in defense so to retain him for another two years is a great outcome for the club.”

Georgievski was born in Australia, so the extension assures that he will remain in that country where he can play in front of his family and friends. It remains to be seen what impact this decision will have on his national team future. Daniel was not summoned by manager Ljubinko Drulovic for the qualifier versus Slovakia earlier this month.
