Macedonian football clubs, especially the clubs that take part in the European competitions, have started actively playing friendly matches in order to test their form.
Renova started the season and competed first from all Macedonian clubs in the European competitions and they also played the first friendly match this summer. Their general test before the UEFA Europa League matches against Dinamo Minsk was the 2:0 win against Albanian side Flamurtari on 23rd June.
Macedonian champions Makedonija GjP traveled to Zlatibor, Serbia and there they played the following matches:

Rabotnicki have also started actively playing friendlies. Currently they are preparing in Serbia, where in the the next few days they will play friendly matches against Partizan and Vojvodina. So far they have played the following matches:

05/07/2009 Radnički Sombor (SRB) – Rabotnicki 0:0
Vardar have also moved to Serbia and will have their preparations on Zlatibor. So far they have defeated the local club Zlatiborac with 4:1 and in the next few days they will play against Borac Čačak, Borac Banja Luka and one Cypriot club.
The new firs league team Teteks are also actively preparing for the new season and hosted the Albanian champions Tirana in Ohrid. The match ended with 1:1 draw.
