The new team for Ferhan Hasani is now known as he will continue his career with Belgian top division club Gent.  In an interview with an Albanian newspaper, the Shkendija manager confirmed that Hasani has traveled to Belgium to sign with Gent.  Hasani will take a medical and is expected to sign a 4 year deal with Gent and the reported transfer fee is supposedly 1.5 million euros, according to the same newspaper.  His new club finished in 5th place last season and barely missed out on a spot in a European competition.  Macedonian international Boban Grncarov used to play for Gent a couple of years ago.  The current manager of the club is Trend Sollied who managed current Macedonian international Goran Popov when they were both at Dutch club Heerenveen.

Keep in mind that Belgian media were reporting that Gent was interested in Hasani back in June but Shkendija made it clear they will only sell Hasani after their Champions League qualifying games.  Ferhan had a disappointing game in the first leg against Partizan as he missed a penalty and his team suffered a heavy loss while Hasani was much more dangerous in the return leg and displayed his ability by creating several chances.  Hasani turned 21 earlier this summer and was presented with the best player award of the Macedonian top division by our website.  He made 27 appearances for Shkendija last season and scored 13 goals to help his side win the title for the first time in their history.  His last appearance with the club was in a substitute role when he played the last 15 minutes of the Macedonian Super Cup against Metalurg this past Sunday.

Hasani’s good form this season did not go unnoticed as former manager of the Macedonian national team Mirsad Jonuz summoned Ferhan to the senior national team.  He made his debut during a friendly against China on 22 December 2010 and his second appearance was during the EURO 2012 qualifier against Ireland in early June when Hasani entered the game in the 10th minute for the injured Ilco Naumoski and played the rest of the game.  He showed flashes of his talent but Macedonia ended up losing that game 2:0.  In the past, Boban Babunski has called Hasani as the best player in the Macedonian league and also included him for the upcoming friendly against Azerbaijan.

Hasani’s preferred position is on the left wing where he can use his good dribbling skills to create havoc for opposing defenses.  He was also the free kick taker for Shkendija and scored some nice goals during the past season directly from free kicks.  Hasani goes by the nickname Buba and was looking for a new challenge to further his career.  The Belgian league is solid and is a good place for young players to develop and show their skill because many top leagues scout the Belgian league for talent.  Hasani becomes the fourth Macedonian to play his club football in Belgium after Boban Grncarov, Aleksandar Trajkovski, and Tome Pacovski.
