Attacker Dushan Savikj was one of four players signed by Hoverla on Wednesday as the Ukrainian club looks to strengthen the squad after a slow start to the season.
Besides Savikj, Hoverla also signed Romanian attacking midfielder Razvan Cociș, Brazilian defender Leandro and Roman Kozak, a youth player who was promoted to the first team by Hoverla. Savikj and Leandro both come to the team from Volyn.
Dushan Savikj became a free agent earlier in the summer after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Volyn. At Volyn, he ended up scoring six goals in 27 league appearances. Dushan was linked with Dinamo București several months ago, but that proved to be baseless.
At Hoverla, Savikj will become teammates with Aleksandar Lazevski who is also a member of the Ukrainian club. Savikj has won 8 caps for the Macedonian national team, last playing in the friendly against Norway on 11 June 2013. He came off the bench in the 83rd minute to replace Ferhan Hasani in that game.
Hoverla is only one point above the last placed team in Ukraine, so they were looking to make reinforcements to move up the standings. Savikj will be available to make his debut in Sunday’s away match against Metalurh Donetsk.
