Martin Bogatinov was given another start for Karpaty and kept a clean sheet as his side collected an important three points to get out of the relegation zone for the time being.
After starting the domestic cup game last week which resulted in a 2:1 win and a place in the semifinals, Martin Bogatinov was given another start at keeper in the 27th round of league play in Ukraine. Karpaty hosted Volyn, the team of both Vance Sikov and Dusan Savic.
Karpaty was desperate, entering the game in last place, and dominated both possession and chances created. Bogatinov was not tested much and managed to keep a clean sheet. Karpaty scored a deserving goal in the 72nd minute which proved enough for the club to secure three points. With the win, Karpaty climbed from 16th place to the 14th position, escaping the relegation zone for the time being. The bottom two teams get relegated and those spots are now occupied by Obolon and Oleksandria. There are three more league games before the end of the season.
As for Volyn, Vance Sikov played the entire game at left CB while Dusan Savic was pretty quiet in attack and was eventually substituted in the 60th minute by fellow striker Yevhen Pavlov.
