After missing the previous game with an injury, defender Boban Grncarov returned for Lierse and provided an assist during today’s 2:0 home victory over Kortrijk.

Boban Grncarov started at left CB for Lierse and played the entire game as his club celebrated a much needed victory.  After a scoreless first half, Lierse played with more urgency after the break and was rewarded with a quick goal in the 51st minute with Grncarov setting up the goalscorer Fréderic Frans.  Grncarov and Frans were actually the CB pairing for Lierse and those two players proved instrumental in the opening goal.  Milos Marić, also returning from an injury, took a free kick which was met by Grncarov who then set up Frans with a nice headed pass before the latter then fired a shot past the opposing keeper from close range.  Lierse added another goal in the 87th minute to cement the 2:0 home victory over Kortrijk.

Grncarov should have also scored a goal in the 90th minute to make it 3:0 for Lierse but he missed with an attempt from close range.  After a corner kick from the right, the ball fell perfectly to Grncarov but his shot from close range was mishit and it went over the goal.  Boban went to the ground in disbelief of the miss but it did not prove to be a fatal mistake since Lierse already had a commanding 2:0 lead at that point in the game.  With the win, Lierse moved to 12th place on the table with 16 points.
