Same as in the first match, the Belarus champion BATE Borisov had no bigger problems and defeated the Macedonian title holders Makedonija GjP with 2:0 in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
BATE Borisov – Makedonija GjP 2:0 (0:0)
83′ Sosnovsky, 90’+3′ Rodionov
After the 0:2 win for BATE in Skopje, this was just another routine match for the Belarus champion. Makedonija’s coach Ilco Gjorgjioski made few changes in the squad in front of the second match, but this didn’t help a lot.
BATE had the control of the match from the beginning but Makedonija managed to save their goal with a little luck and with the good saves by the goalkeeper Pustinjaković after the chances by Skavysh, Radkov and Sosnovsky in the first half.
Makedonija GjP had the only real scoring chance in the 55th minute, but the young striker Ivanovski failed to beat goalkeeper Veremko. Both coaches made few substitutions in the second half and both teams played much slower. And just when Makedonija hoped that they will leave undefeated, Serhey Sosnovsky scored for BATE’s lead in the 83rd minute. In the last seconds of the match, Vitaly Rodionov scored another goal and confirmed the victory.
