The Armenia manager named his squad for the upcoming EURO 2012 qualifiers against Macedonia and Ireland.
These are two important games for Armenia as they attempt to finish in the top 2 of the group. Their biggest challengers, Russia and Ireland, each face Andorra once which likely means three points so Armenia will need to beat Macedonia on 7 October to maintain the pressure before their big showdown against Ireland on 11 October.
The biggest name on the Armenian squad is Henrik Mkhitaryan from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk. If anyone watched the Shakhtar Donetsk vs. APOEL game in the Champions League, that game featured Mkhitaryan going up against Macedonian Ivan Trickovski from APOEL.
They also have three players from Metalurh Donetsk, the same team as Mario Gjurovski who was added to the Macedonian squad today as a replacement due to injury problems.
Here is the Armenian squad:
Goalkeepers: Roman Berezovsky (Khimki, Russia), Gevorg Kasparov (Mika)
Defenders: Sargis Hovsepyan, Artur Yuspashyan, Artak Yedigaryan, Varazdat Aroyan (all Pyunik), Robert Arzumanyan (Jagiellonia, Poland), Hrayr Mikoyan (Mika), Levon Hayrapetyan (Lechia, Poland), Valery Aleksanyan (Sanat Naft, Iran)
Midfielders: Artur Yedigaryan (Banants), Henrik Mkhitaryan (Shakhtar Donetsk, Ukraine), Zaven Badoyan (Impulse), Karlen Mkrtchyan (Metalurh Donetsk, Ukraine), Edgar Malakyan (Pyunik), Araz Ozbiliz (Ajax, Netherlands)
