Arena Philip II of Macedon officially opened

National Arena Philip II of MacedonAs the construction ended on the West and East stand, tonight with a small ceremony it was marked the official opening of the National Arena Philip II of Macedon in Skopje.

With Prime minister’s Nikola Gruevski words it was officialy opened the National Arena Philip II of Macedon. The construction that started in 2008 with the North stand ended just few days ago with the West and East stand. The new stadium has a capacity of 33.460 seats and is filled with modern equipment.

According to daily newspaper Nova Makedonija, the capacity of each stand is the following:

North (main stand): 10.974 of whom 494 VIP, 141 for journalists and 245 for radio and TV commentators
South: 10.562
East and West: 5.962

The first official game of the Macedonian national team will be the EURO 2012 qualifying game against Ireland on 4th of June.

The construction will continue as this summer will be put a new grass with drenage as well as new athletics track.
