Manager Igor Angelovski only called up 16 players for the two friendlies later this month, but he will also rely on some U21 guys for the second test versus Lebanon.
Macedonia will play friendlies against Montenegro and Lebanon in November. For that occasion, new manager Igor Angelovski unveiled a squad of 16 players. There were no new names, but the list included several notable omissions.
Besart Abdurahimi, Kire Ristevski and Mirko Ivanovski were dropped by Angelovski. Arijan Ademi is obviously not listed due to his doping suspension, while Goran Pandev, Ferhan Hasani and Stefan Ashkovski miss out due to injuries. The only returnee to the national team is Krste Velkoski. Angelovski happens to know Velkoski very well since he formerly coached him at Rabotnichki. Besides that, the other 15 guys were also summoned by Macedonia in last month’s roster.
The players below will compete for playing time against Montenegro on November 12, while several U21 guys will then be added prior to the test versus Lebanon on November 17. As a reminder, Macedonia U21 meets their counterparts from France on November 15. After that important qualifier, some of the players will be promoted to the senior team. Since the squad is pretty thin in defense, look for Gjoko Zajkov, Darko Velkovski and Besir Demiri to get a serious look.
