The deal was announced on Maribor’s website as Ibraimi was presented as the new signing for the team.  Maribor was looking to add creativity to their attack and felt Ibraimi would be a good addition as he is a skilled player that can play as either an attacking midfielder or as a second striker.  Ibraimi is still only 22 years old and has spent the majority of his career in Slovenia with Olimpija Ljubljana, Nafta Lendava, and now Maribor.

Ibraimi had a tumultuous year last season.  He signed late in the summer with Turkish club Eskişehirspor and failed to adjust to football in Turkey so he mutually agreed to terminate his contract in the January transfer window.  He then returned to Slovenia by signing with Nafta Lendava for the remainder of the year.  Ibraimi became a free agent this summer and that also made him attractive to Maribor since they didn’t have to pay a transfer fee for his services.
