Round 6: Vardar – Drita 4:0

Vardar returns to top of the table after a convincing win over Drita.

Vardar and Drita completed the 6th round of the First League with their match played tonight in Skopje. Vardar entered this round as leaders, were pushed down to second place after Horizont Turnovo won against Bregalnica, but only after several hours they returned to the first place with the routine win over Drita. Braces by Filip Petrov and Jovan Kostovski saw Vardar cruising past Drita with 4:0.

Drita played organized in defense during the first half and even managed to pose some threat to Kostadin Zahov’s goal, but it was Vardar who held the control. Before Filip Petrov’s opening goal in the 44th minute of the first half, several home players had attempts and somehow announced the first goal. Petrov’s chip shot from inside the box a couple of minutes before the half-time whistle completely changed Drita’s plans for the second half, but they couldn’t have wished for a worse start. Only seconds in the second half-time, Jovan Kostovski scored an excellent goal for doubling his team’s lead. Drita only had one option at this point, attack, but that leaved more then enough space for Vardar’s fast counter attacks and from such Petrov doubled his score tally for the night in minute 69. Kostovski added one more in the 77th minute for final score of 4:0 in favor of Vardar.
