Samir Fazli compiled a goal and an assist in the first friendly of the summer for Heerenveen under new manager Marco van Basten.
The Macedonian attacker had a solid performance for Heerenveen in the first friendly of the summer under Dutch footballing legend Marco van Basten who is the new manager of the club. Fazli played the 2nd half and put together one goal and an assist in a 8:0 friendly victory over Gaasterlân/Sleat. Samir provided the assist on the fifth goal scored by Hakim Ziyech and then scored the sixth goal for Heerenveen in the 81st minute with a shot from the edge of the area. The goal hit the inside of the right goal post before reaching the back of the net.
Heerenveen’s website highlighted Fazli as particularly leaving a good impression. Samir had a rocky relationship with the previous manager Ron Jans so the hope is that Marco van Basten, a respected name who was a great striker in his playing career, could get the best out of Fazli this upcoming season. Heerenveen sold their top striker from last year, Bas Dost, to German side Wolfsburg earlier this summer so there is an opening for Fazli to receive more playing time.
