Defender Jasmin Mecinovik signed a 1 year contract with Sogndal today, thus continuing his career in Norway with the top division club.
After being on trial for about a week, Sogndal has decided to sign CB Jasmin Mecinovik to a 1 year deal. The deal was made official on the club’s website. Mecinović played in a friendly last weekend and showed enough to be offered a contract.
The assistant coach Håvard Flo said the following about the signing of Mecinovik, “Jasmin did a fine job in the trial and showed to be a good player. We are pleased that he has decided to sign with our team. Due to some injuries in the squad, we could see an early debut for Jasmin.”
Mecinovik was given the jersey number 28 for Sogndal and could already make his debut this Sunday when the club goes on the road to face Odd Grenland. That will be the first round of the 2012 season in the Norwegian top division. Out of 16 teams last year, Sogndal barely avoided relegation as they finished in 14th place so the club will look to improve on that position in the 2012 season.
Jasmin Mecinovik is a tall CB who spent the past year with two Moldovan clubs in Sheriff and Tiraspol. However, he did not receive much playing time and was looking for a new team in the winter transfer window. Now, just two days before the start of the season in Norway, Jasmin found a team in Sogndal where he will look to get his career back on the track. Mecinovik, 21, has been a regular for the Macedonian national team under manager Boban Babunski.
