After the cancellation of the friendly against Peru, the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) announced today that the national team will face Luxembourg on 29 February of next year.
The open date in late February has now been filled after FFM announced today that Macedonia will face Luxembourg on the road on 29 February 2012. Macedonia attempted to schedule a friendly with both Bosnia and Peru but a deal could not be reached so Macedonia settled for Luxembourg. This will be the first game that will be used by manager John Toshack for the start of preparations for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifications.
This will be the second matchup (both friendlies) between Macedonia and Luxembourg. On 20 August 2008, in the first matchup between these two national teams, Macedonia collected an easy 4:1 road victory over Luxembourg. Goran Pandev scored two goals for Macedonia in that game while Ilco Naumoski and Vlatko Grozdanoski scored one goal apiece.
