Midweek internationals performances

Dzelil Abdula; photo: voetbalprimeur.nlDzelil Abdula scored his first competitive goal for De Graafschap, Tome Pacovski was named man of the match for Beerschot by keeping a clean sheet for 120 minutes, while many other Macedonian internationals were involved in domestic cup matches in their respective countries.

Italy, Serie A, Napoli – Udinese 2:0
Goran Pandev remains out with an injury for Napoli who moved to fourth place in Serie A with the home win over Udinese.

Germany, DFB-Pokal, Hannover 96 – Mainz 05 0:1
Nikolce Noveski played the entire game for Mainz and was part of a defense that kept a clean sheet.  This game was tied at 0:0 after 90 minutes so it went into extra time where Mainz midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz scored the only goal of the game in the 94th minute.  With the narrow win, Mainz advanced to the next round of the German Cup.

Ukraine, Kybok Ukraini, Dynamo Kyiv – Shakhtar Donetsk 2:3
Goran Popov started at LB for Dynamo Kyiv and played all 90 minutes as his club was eliminated from the Ukrainian Cup.  The draw paired the two most successful clubs in Ukraine to meet in the 1/8 finals of the domestic cup and Shakhtar came out on top with the road victory.  Popov attempted a powerful shot in the 17th minute but it went just wide of the goal.

Ukraine, Kybok Ukraini, Volyn – Dnipro 3:2
Vance Sikov played all 120 minutes for Volyn as this game went into extra time after the score was 2:2 after 90 minutes.  Volyn showed great character to force extra time after their starting goalkeeper received a straight red card in the 34th minute.  Things were not looking good for Volyn being down 2:1 and playing with 10 men but they scored a goal in the 81st minute to tie the game at 2:2.  In extra time, Volyn was awarded a penalty which was converted for a 3:2 lead and they held on to that slim margin to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Ukraine, Kybok Ukraini, Karpaty – Metalist 1:0
Martin Bogatinov was not called up by Karpaty as Andriy Tlumak started in goal and kept a clean sheet while Oleksandr Ilyuschenkov was on the bench as the #2 keeper.

Ukraine, Kybok Ukraini, Metalurh Donetsk – Kryvbas 4:0
Mario Gjurovski was not among the 18 players called up by Metalurh Donetsk who easily advanced to the next round of the domestic cup.

AFC Champions League, Semi-Finals, Al-Sadd – Suwon 0:1
Stevica Ristić did not play for Suwon because of a red card suspension.  Despite the win, Suwon was eliminated from the AFC Champions League by losing 2:1 on aggregate.  Al-Sadd will face Jeonbuk in the AFC Champions League final on 5 November.

Russia, Perviy Divizion, Chernomorets – Sibir 1:1
Velice Sumulikoski started for Sibir and played until the 85th minute when he was replaced by Tomáš Čížek.  Sumulikoski also received a yellow card in the 36th minute.

Russia, Perviy Divizion, Zhemchuzhina-Sochi – Sibir 0:3
Velice Sumulikoski and Sibir did not have to play but they were awarded an automatic 3:0 win after Zhemchuzhina-Sochi withdrew from the Russian second division earlier in the season.

Belgium, Beker van België, Zulte Waregem – Standard Liège 1:2
Aleksandar Trajkovski was an unused substitute for Zulte Waregem who was eliminated from the Belgian Cup.

Belgium, Beker van België, Genk – Lierse 0:2
Boban Grncarov did not play for Lierse because of an injury as his side celebrated an impressive road victory to eliminate the defending league champions Genk from the domestic cup.

Belgium, Beker van België, Cercle Brugge – Beerschot 0:1
Tome Pacovski played from the start for Beerschot and kept a clean sheet as he was once again named man of the match during a Belgian Cup game.  That was also the case last month as Pacovski did not concede a goal in 120 minutes.  Beerschot scored the lone goal of the game in the 108th minute of extra time to claim the victory and advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Switzerland, Axpo Super League, Thun – Zürich 0:2
Muhamed Demiri was an unused substitute for Thun who lost their third consecutive game in league play.

Poland, Ekstraklasa, Cracovia – Polonia Warszawa 0:0
Aleksandar Todorovski played the entire game for Polonia Warszawa and also received a yellow card in the 55th minute.  Todorovski made his eight consecutive start for Polonia in this game as that streak has included six league games and two domestic cup matches.

Serbia, Lav Kup Srbije, Partizan – Metalac 3:1
Aleksandar Lazevski started at LB for Partizan and played all 90 minutes as his side advanced to the quarter-finals of the Serbian Cup.  As for Metalac, Gjorgi Mojsov started on the bench before he entered the game in the 85th minute replacing Nikola Lukić while his teammate Nikola Karcev also began the game on the bench before he came on in the 57th minute to substitute Boško Dopuđ.

Serbia, Lav Kup Srbije, Inđija – Vojvodina 1:2
Daniel Mojsov played the entire game for Vojvodina who needed two second half goals in the 71st and 82nd minute to overcome a 1:0 deficit.  Mojsov also received a yellow card during the game as Vojvodina advanced to the next round of the domestic cup.

Serbia, Lav Kup Srbije, Proleter Novi Sad – Borac Čačak 0:0  (Borac Čačak advanced 4:1 on penalties)
Stefan Spirovski played from the start for for Borac Čačak who advanced to the next round of the competition.  It was goalless after 90 minutes but Borac Čačak came out on top during penalty kicks.

Serbia, Lav Kup Srbije, Spartak Zlatibor Voda – Radnički 1923 1:1  (Spartak advanced 5:4 on penalties)
Fahrudin Gjurgjević was an unused substitute for Spartak Zlatibor Voda who was eliminated from the Serbian Cup on penalties.

Serbia, Lav Kup Srbije, Jagodina – Javor 1:1  (Javor advanced 4:2 on penalties)
Dragan Stojkov played the entire game for Jagodina who was eliminated from the domestic cup by losing 4:2 on penalties after the game was tied at 1:1 after 90 minutes.  As for Javor, Nikola Jakimovski did not play.

Slovenia, Hervis Pokal, Zavrč – Maribor 3:3
Agim Ibraimi was not called up by Maribor as he was rested but Zavrč presented problems for the defending Slovenian champions.  Zavrč had a 3:1 lead at one point in the game but Maribor was able to score two goals and tie the game.  So, this domestic cup matchup will be decided in the return leg.

Azerbaijan, Unibank Premyer Liqası, Neftçi – Qarabağ 3:2
Both Igor Mitreski and Slavco Georgievski played the entire game for Neftçi who recorded a come from behind victory to get past Qarabağ.  The visitors had a 2:0 lead after 24 minutes but Neftçi bounced back with three consecutive goals to claim all three points.  Mitreski also received a yellow card in the 61st minute.

Croatia, Hrvatski Nogometni Kup, Varaždin – Istra 1961 0:1
Armend Alimi started on the bench for Istra 1961 before he entered the game in the 69th minute replacing Luka Mijaljević.  The game was tied at 0:0 after 90 minutes so it went into extra time where Istra 1961 scored the lone goal of the game in the 115th minute by converting a penalty.  With the win, Istra 1961 advanced to the quarter finals of the Croatian Cup.

Croatia, Hrvatski Nogometni Kup, Rijeka – Inter Zaprešić 1:0
Neither Goran Todorcev nor Goran Gancev played for Inter Zaprešić.

Netherlands, KNVB Beker, Heerenveen – Harkemase Boys 6:1
Samir Fazli was not called up Heerenveen.  Instead, Fazli played all 90 minutes for the Heerenveen youth team on Monday in a 2:1 win over their counterparts from PSV Eindhoven.

Netherlands, KNVB Beker, De Treffers – De Graafschap 1:5
Dzelil Abdula started on the bench for De Graafschap before he entered the game in the 67th minute replacing Ted van de Pavert.  Abdula scored his first competitive goal for the De Graafschap in the 77th minute to make the score 5:1 as his team advanced to the next round of the domestic cup.  The goal by Abdula came on a header following a corner kick from the left.

Netherlands, KNVB Beker, Oss – Den Bosch 3:1
Antonio Stankov did not play for Oss because of an injury as his side advanced to the next round of the Dutch Cup.

Romania, Cupa României, Dinamo Bucureşti – Gaz Metan Severin 5:0
Kristijan Naumovski played from the start for Dinamo Bucureşti and kept a clean sheet.  Naumovski has now started both domestic cup matches for the Romanian club this season as they advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Slovakia, Slovnaft Cup, Zlaté Moravce – Košice 1:0
Darko Tofiloski did not play for Košice as he was the #2 keeper behind Fernando López.  Košice was eliminated from the Slovak Cup by losing 3:2 on aggregate over the two games.

Czech Republic, Ondrášovka Cup, Viktoria Žižkov – České Budějovice 1:1
Ilija Nestorovski was an unused substitute for Viktoria Žižkov who was eliminated from the Czech Cup.  České Budějovice won the first leg 1:0 so they advanced to the quarter-finals of the domestic cup by winning 2:1 on aggregate.

Bulgaria, A PFG, Lokomotiv Plovdiv – Cherno More 1:0
Dragi Kocev did not play for Lokomotiv Plovdiv who notched a slim home victory over Cherno More.
