Ohrid players threaten strike

FK Ohrid; photo: ohridnews.comThe Ohrid players have threatened to refuse to play Sunday’s game against 11 Oktomvri because of unpaid wages.

As ohridnews.com reports, the players did not show up for the planned training today and have threatened to not play Sunday’s home game against 11 Oktomvri because of unpaid wages.

The captain of Ohrid, Saso Goreski, told ohridnews.com the following, “The glass is full of discontent for the players.  We were guaranteed that our premiums and salaries would be paid by 30 September 2011, but today came and we have not received anything.  We did not want this situation to come to this point but we have been playing without receiving a denar (Macedonian currency) from the beginning of the preparations.  This can not continue anymore as enough is enough.  If the administration and president can’t run the club, then they should leave.”

Ohrid vs. 11 Oktomvri was the only game scheduled for Sunday but this game is now in serious doubt if the Ohrid players refuse to play the game for unpaid wages.  Ohrid was a newly promoted club this season but you can understand the frustration of the players for not receiving their wages.
