Igor Mitreski continues his rich career in the club Neftçi in Azerbaijan. As theclub’s web site reports, this is a super transfer for the rich Azeri club from the capital city of Baku.

The former Macedonian captain signed a 2-years-long contract that will keep him at Tofiq Bəhramov stadium until July 2012. He was a free agent for few months as he cancelled his contract with Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia. In his new club the excitement is very big as at the moment Mitreski is the most famous player in the squad where also from this summer is another Macedonian national team player in the name of Slavco Georgievski.

Neftçi is the third post-soviet club in Mitreski’s career as he used to play for Russian team Spartak Moskva and Ukrainian team Metalurh Zaporizhya. He has 63 caps for Macedonia and 1 goal so far. Last season Neftçi finished on the 5th place and failed to win a spot in Europe, but with the few new players in the team, among which the two Macedonians, Neftçi wants to make a team for a much higher table finish.
