Attacker Dejan Blazhevski officially signed his contract with Azeri side Xəzər from the city of Lankaran.
After being awarded as the best player in the domestic league for 2013 by the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), Dejan Blazhevski left Macedonia to continue his career in Azerbaijan. He signed a year-and-a-half contract with Xəzər. There he will play alongside another Macedonian in Nikola Gligorov.
As a matter of fact, Gligorov played a big factor in the transfer. Blazhevski told us the following about Gligorov’s involvement, “Well, Nikola called me and told me that the club is interested in me. That the coach wanted me and that the club president told Nikola for me to arrive there. That is how I ended up here with this club.”
With his attacking skills, Dejan will try to help the team move up the standings as they are currently in 8th place, trailing the leading side Qarabağ by 14 points. The team was looking to strengthen the attack since they have only scored 16 goals from their opening 18 rounds of the current season. Blazhevski was the leading scorer in the Macedonian league with 19 goals at the midway point of the season.
Xəzər will be his fourth international club as he has formerly played for three Greek clubs in Agrotikos, Veria and Pierikos.
