2.MFL season 26/27 schedule made

The Competition Committee at FFM today announced the schedule of matches in the second league for the 2026/2027 season, after doing the same for the first league on Wednesday.

According to the calendar, the new season begins on 15 August, and the first half season ends with the Round 13 on 28 November, followed by the regular winter break. The season continues with the second half on 20 February, and the final Round 26 is scheduled for 22 May.

In the new season, the second league will have 14 clubs, two fewer than before. Pelister, Brera Strumica, Makedonija GjP, Rabotnichki and Shkupi were relegated from the first league, while Euromilk and Kamjani, the only newcomer, got promoted from the third league.

The season will have only 26 rounds, even 10 less than the top flight. The system used says that each team will face each other once at home and once away. Therefore, the winter break will last almost three months.

As many as 4 teams are from Skopje, and 2 are from Strumica. The remaining teams are from Bitola, Gevgelija, Kochani, Ohrid, Radovish, Tetovo, as well as from the villages of Novaci and Kamenjane.

The second league will be quite trophy-rich next season, as former first league champions and cup winners Rabotnichki (4 leagues, 4 cups), Shkupi (4 leagues, 3 cups), Makedonija GjP (1 league, 3 cups), Pelister (2 cups), Teteks (2 cups) and Brera Strumica (1 cup) will compete.

Round 1 matches:

Pelister – Kamjani
Brera Strumica – Euromilk
Makedonija GjP – Teteks
Rabotnichki – Kozhuf
Shkupi – Det. Plachkovica
Ohrid Lychnidos – Novaci
Belasica – Osogovo

The top two teams will secure promotion to the first league, while the third-placed team will enter a play-off match against the 8th-placed team in the first league. The bottom three teams will be relegated, and will be replaced by three of the six winners of the new third league regions, after concluding the play-off matches.

Unlike the Macedonian elite, the VAR system is not used in the second league. For a good number of clubs, installing the necessary equipment for VAR cameras in their stadiums would be a huge burden, and a huge financial burden would also fall on the FFM due to the need for fiber optic internet for every match.
