The Macedonian international was one year on loan at Sporting Charleroi and the club eventually decided to buy the 21-year-old from french side Stade Rennais. Zajkov was brought last year on loan for one season and after twelve months it wasn’t clear what Charleroi thought about the young central defender. He had a season with up and downs as he was a reserve for a long part of the season, but also had a stretch when he played regularly, furthermore he played some outstanding games for Macedonia’s U21 national team. Now we know that he pleased the coaching staff.

Zajkov is one of the big hopes for Macedonia, he is still young and promising and it is expected that he will be soon an important part of Macedonia’s senior national team, maybe already in the upcoming qualification cycle. In addition, he is still eligible for the U21 which is fighting for a spot on the next U21 European Championship. However, let’s hope that he will have success with both national teams, of course also with his club.
