Goran Popov

West Bromwich looking to add Goran Popov

Goran PopovAlthough Goran Popov was first negotiating with Stoke City, West Bromwich has now shown interest in signing the player.

Goran’s move to Stoke City has apparently fallen through.  However, his chance of playing in the English Premier League is still alive with West Bromwich Albion being rumored to be holding talks to sign the Macedonian left back.

WBA was planning to sign Bryan Oviedo from København but Everton managed to snap him up, leading West Bromwich to turn its focus to Popov.

Popov, 27, is the leading contender to provide competition for Liam Ridgewell, WBA’s current left-back.  Goran was linked with that same English club back in the summer of 2010 when he was a free agent, but he ultimately opted to sign with Dynamo Kyiv.

English media reports that Popov holds a Bulgarian passport and shouldn’t have a problem in obtaining a work permit.  It has not been reported whether he would join WBA on loan or a permanent move.  The transfer window closes tonight so we should know pretty soon whether Popov secures his move to West Bromwich.
