WCQ: Macedonia – Wales 1:1 (Video)

In the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers Macedonia missed a win over Wales conceding a last minute equalizer.

Milevski opted for Dimitrievski, Alioski, Musliu, Serafimov, Zajkov, Ilievski, Bardhi, Alimi, Kostadinov, Elmas and Miovski. Since the match in Vaduz, he benched Churlinov and Trajkovski, substituting them with Ilievski and Kostadinov.

Despite being guests, the Welsh took the initiative from the start. Wales dominated in the opening 20 minutes, but fail to create a serious chance. They had a few shots, but nothing tough for Dimitrievski.

After that Welsh dominance Macedonia started playing more openly, but did not create a good chance.

In the second half it was similar – both sides could not create a chance. Milevski tried to change something by introducing Atanasov and Churlinov in the 61st minute instead of Alimi and Zajkov.

The best chance so far in the match came in the 65th minute when Bardhi took a counter attack, sent the last left for Elmas who found Churlinov in the box. The later fired, but Darlow well saved.

Wales could have easily taken the lead in the 71st minute when Dimitrievski did not react good on a through ball, Johnson fired from inside the box but Musliu blocked from the goal-line.

The first minute of the injury minutes was underway when Miovski stunned the Welsh scoring a goal a awful back pass by Joe Allen. Everyone thought that that is a game winning goal, but Wales managed to find an equalizer in the 6th injury minute through Brooks after a rumble in the home box.
