Macedonia started from the last Pot 5 and was drawn into the second part of the groups that featureс 5 and not 6 teams. More precisely, Macedonia found itself in the Group G alongside France, Austria, Serbia and Kazakhstan.

Group G
France France
Austria Austria
Serbia Serbia
Kazakhstan Kazakhstan
Macedonia Macedonia

The group winners and the three runners-up with the best record against the sides first, third, fourth and fifth in their groups will join hosts England in the final tournament. The other six runners-up will advance into a play-off in October 2020 for the remaining three berths in the 16-team finals to be held the following summer.

The qualifying matches will begin in late August and will end in September 2020.

It will be first qualifying campaign for Macedonia since the one for 2017 EURO after the Federation decided not to enter the 2019 World Cup qualifiers due to very bad results. The Macedonian team usually served for the opponents to build their goal-difference often with results up to 10 or more goals scored.

Newly appointed head coach Kiril Izov is aware that Macedonia has no chances for qualifying and that the girls can probably only match Kazakhstan: “France, Austria and Serbia and very strong and we can only hope that will give our best against them. Our chance of winning points will be Kazakhstan whom I hope we will beat to eventually record a victory after so much time.” – he told FFM.

Last time Macedonia won a qualifying match was in the 2013 campaign when we defeated Latvia and Luxembourg in the preliminary round.
