Melbourne Croatia booked Preston Makedonia a one-way ticket into the 2008 Foxtel Cup final series following a 1-0 victory over Oakleigh Cannons at Knights Stadium last night. The Lions had to sweat on the outcome of the match to determine whether they would get a chance to defend their 2007 crown, and the Knights didn’t let them down winning a tight one.
They went close to scoring on occasions but were unable to capitalize, the Knights able to head into the post-season on the back of another victory.
It was their 14th for the season and they finished the home-and-away rounds just a point behind minor premier Green Gully, who they’ll get a crack at on Sunday in the Qualifying Final.
The Cannons had to settle with seventh position on the Foxtel Cup table.
The result confirmed an Altona Magic Vardar/Preston Makedonia elimination final at Paisley Park on Saturday night while the Cavaliers, Knights, Heidelberg United and Richmond make up the top six.
