Vasoski spent the past six years in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt.  His contract expired in the summer and the German club decided not to offer Vasoski a new contract which made him a free agent.  In the end, Vasoski made 98 league appearances for Eintracht Frankurt and scored three goals with two assists.  Vardar was thrown around as a potential landing spot but Vasoski decided to accept the best offer which came from Greek club Kavala.  However, due to a match-fixing scandal, Kavala was kicked out of the top division and relegated to the fourth tier of Greek football.  After those news, Kavala decided to appeal that decision but recently, the ruling was once again confirmed and Kavala will remain in the Greek fourth division.  Therefore, Vasoski was released from his contract and became a free agent.  He was immediately linked with Vardar as Vasoski has said that Vardar would be the only option if he returned to Macedonia.

Aleksandar Vasoski is highly regarded by Vardar fans.  He actually joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2005 January transfer window from Vardar.  He is considered one of the top Macedonian defenders but his problem has been injuries.  During his time in Germany, he sustained numerous injuries that sidelined him for a considerable time.  Also, due to his injuries, Vasoski retired from the Macedonian national team in 2009 as he made a total of 33 appearances with 2 goals.  He is now 31 years old and nearing the end of his playing career.  Vasoski could finish his career at Vardar by helping his former club return to the top of Macedonian football.  The biggest obstacle for Vardar will be matching his financial demands since this will likely be his last contract as a player before retirement.
