Vardar wins the 58th Derby of Skopje

With the goal scored by Filip Ivanovski, Vardar beat Rabotnicki in the derby of Skopje.

In front of around 8.000 football fans at the Arena Philip II of Macedon in Skopje, Vardar beat Rabotnicki in the first derby of this season.  The only goal of the game was scored by Filip Ivanovski in the 37th minute after a mistake by Rabotnicki keeper Stole Dimitrievski.

This was the second consecutive win for Vardar to start the season, while the first defeat for Rabotnicki if we don’t count the Europa League home defeat by Anorthosis.  Vardar deserved the victory after outplaying Rabotnicki who just confirmed that playing in Europe has its own consequences.

This was the 58th game in the history between Vardar and Rabotnicki. Despite Vardar’s win, Rabotnicki still has the edge in the overall statistics with 23 wins, Vardar has 21, while 14 games have ended in a draw.  But, when it comes to the goal-difference, Vardar still leads 78:73.
