Two different emotions for the two biggest brands in Macedonian football. Vardar finally clinched the league title with a home win over Renova, while Pelister secured relegation after losing to Turnovo.
Vardar managed to finally clinch the league title after several unsuccessful attempts in the past few games. Goran Popov scored the opening goal in the 8th minute on a well struck free kick. Senijad Ibričić, a former Bosnian international, made it 2:0 in the 26th minute. Izair Emini reduced that deficit to 2:1 in the 35th minute after a terrible mistake by Blagoja Ljamchevski, but Vardar’s two goal advantage was restored minutes later courtesy of Stefan Spirovski. In the 2nd half, Ibričić would add another goal in the 87th minute when he converted a penalty. With this 4:1 win, Vardar celebrated their eight league trophy in the club’s history.

At the FFM pitch in Skopje, Rabotnichki overcame a halftime deficit to down Shkendija. It was the visitors who scored the first goal through Bojan Vručina just before halftime, but Rabotnichki came back in the 2nd half. Goals by Chuma Anene and substitute Kire Markoski lifted them past Shkendija.

Pelister, meanwhile, was officially relegated after losing to Turnovo. This was an absolute must win for Pelister against their direct rival for avoiding the 9th position on the table, but Turnovo left Prilep victorious after notching two goals in the opening half. Manager Gjoko Hadjievski was brought on to restore some pride with Pelister, but it didn’t work as they will now head to the second division. Much of the blame should lie with the owner as Pelister failed to make any reinforcements in the winter. The team actually got worse after the company “Cermat” came on board.
