In the opening match of Group 5 in the U19 qualifications, Macedonia suffered a 5:0 loss against Germany.
The match was played in Luxembourg, which is the host country for Group 5 of the U19 qualifications. Macedonia U19 frustrated their counterparts from Germany for the majority of the opening 45 minutes, but Germany did score a goal from a penalty just before halftime to take some momentum into the locker room. From there on, Germany U19 took over in the 2nd half, scoring four more goals to cement the 5:0 victory.

In the other match of the group, Ireland won 5:2 against Luxembourg. Thus, Macedonia’s next game against Ireland, to be played on 13 October, is a must win encounter if the national team wants to finish in the top 2 of the group, a place that leads to the elite round.
