Macedonia was just second away from winning a point against Spain but a goal deep into the injury time denied the young Lynx a well deserved reward for their effort.

Spain was the better team on the field with far more attacks and possession, but the Macedonian gave their best to get something out of this match. The home defense was doing a great job, heroically preventing the Spaniard from scoring despite their numerous occasions. The few attempts that managed to get past the Macedonian back line were well saved by keeper Alchevski.
However, the Macedonian bunker was broken in the fifth minute of the injury time when substitute players Israel Salazar Piriz scored after Jordi Escobar assisted him from right.
