Trapattoni announced the Irish squad

The Irish team; photo: 3football.ieThe national team coach of Ireland named 29 players for the EURO 2012 qualifying game against Macedonia and the friendly against Uruguay among which are Robbie Keane, John O’Shea and Damien Duff.

Giovanni Trapattoni called two debutants and other eight players with less than 5 caps but they will most probably play in the friendly against Uruguay which is 3 days after the important qualifying game against Macedonia. Number one goalkeeper Shay Given remains out with an injury.

Making the announcement, the Trapattoni said: “Macedonia is a big match for us in our aim to qualify for EURO 2012. Playing at home in the Aviva Stadium is important and we will be keen to build on our recent home performance against Wales. Three days later we will take on Uruguay who have announced a full strength squad to come to Dublin, including Forlán and Suárez. This will be a very good challenge for our players, particularly after Uruguay’s strong performance in South Africa last summer.”

The game Ireland – Macedonia will be played on 26th of March at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Macedonia will announce the squad on Wednesday.
