Aleksandar Trajkovski told sporza.be that the Zulte Waregem fans will see the real Trajkovski after the New Year and part of his disappointing form earlier in the season can be attributed to the death of his father.
As Trajkovski told sporza.be, his father died just before he signed with Zulte Waregem earlier in the summer. That took a toll on him and his motivation was gone at that point. Trajkovski stated, “Because of family problems, my head was not on football. I had no motivation and I ended up on the couch. Losing my father was a hard blow. He was my hero and biggest supporter. As a 19-year-old, it was very difficult to deal with those circumstances while being far from home. My mom visited me but as soon as she left, things went from bad to worse. I have high expectations but ask for a little patience. For the New Year, my mother is coming back and then you will see the real Aleksandar Trajkovski.”
Speaking about the great goal that he recently scored for Zulte Waregem, “I saw the goal a few times on the internet and it was by far the best goal of my career. Unfortunately, it only led to one point since the game ended in a draw. I dedicate the goal to my father.”
Trajkovski finished the interview by saying that people in Macedonia view him as the successor of Goran Pandev, who he called the best Macedonian player of all time. Trajkovski also said that he is looking forward to facing Belgium during the 2014 World Cup qualifications since Macedonia and Belgium are in the same group. Trajkovski, “Belgium may have more talent on paper but we will play with our hearts. Perhaps we can be the surprise of the group.”
