Aleksandar Trajkovski told Belgian media that he is ready for a new challenge after spending the past four years in that country.

Zulte Waregem has had a disappointing 2014-15 season after finishing in 4th place last campaign. Therefore, the club is expected to undergo numerous changes to its roster. One player who will surely not be returning is Macedonian international Aleksandar Trajkovski.

Trajkovski actually has one more year remaining on his contract, but manager Francky Dury has told him that he is free to seek a new club after the season ends. Previously, we reported that Trajkovski was slated to become a free agent this summer, but we checked with a Belgian journalist who said he has one more year on the deal.

The player himself is not bitter at the news as he feels a split would be mutually beneficial.

Trajkovski said the following to Het Nieuwsblad, “I have been here for 4 years. It might be better to undergo a new challenge. I have opportunities from Belgium and abroad. I don’t know of the asking price as that is something my agent works on. Ideally, I would like to play in a big league like Italy, Spain or England. Previously, I could not join an English club because I did not have enough matches for my national team.”

Trajkovski is correct regarding the last sentence. A foreigner moving to England must have played a certain percentage of his country’s national team games to be eligible for a work visa. That will now not be a problem, since he has become a regular mainstay on the Macedonian squad. As a matter of fact, Trajkovski has been Macedonia’s best player over the past year.
