Trajkovski was given a chance in the 84th minute to take the place of Bojan Miovski, as coach Blagoja Milevski wanted to freshen up the attack as Macedonia was looking for an equalizer against Ukraine. That did not happen, but Trajkovski by appearing at this match achieved a record.

As this was his 85th national team match, he surpassed legendary national team midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski, who has 84 caps. Trajkovski is now 3rd on the all-time list, behind 2nd Goce Sedloski with 100 caps and 1st Goran Pandev with 122.
