John Toshack announced 20 players for the upcoming EURO 2012 qualifiers against Armenia and Slovakia.
Macedonia is scheduled to visit Armenia on the 7th of October and then hosts Slovakia four days later to conclude yet another unsuccessful campaign. Macedonia has usually finished in 4th place in previous EURO and FIFA competitions but they have already secured a 5th place finish in this group, behind Russia, Ireland, Armenia, and Slovakia.
Armenia has been the biggest surprise in the group and will look to continue their improbable run on their way to possibly finishing in the top 2 of the group. Macedonia will look to spoil their party in a match that is only about pride for the Macedonian players. Meanwhile, Macedonia will look for some revenge against Slovakia after losing the first game of the campaign 1:0 against Slovakia with the opponents scoring the only goal of the game in the 90th minute.
From the players called up, the younger attackers like Aleksandar Trajkovski, Ferhan Hasani, and Samir Fazli were not summoned by Toshack as each player was called up for the Macedonian U21 national team. There are no new names on the national team. Aleksandar Lazevski is back on the team after recovering from an injury but all the other players were also included by Toshack for the EURO 2012 qualifiers earlier this month against Russia and Andorra.
