Agim Ibraimi of Maribor and Mirko Ivanovski of Videoton both lost the Super Cups with their respective clubs.
Super Cups signify the start of a new season. That was the case in Slovenia and Hungary as both of those countries played their Super Cups on Sunday. As a reminder, a Super Cup is played between the league and cup champion from the previous season.
In Slovenia, that meant Maribor (league winner) vs. Koper (cup winner). Agim Ibraimi started on the right wing for Maribor and played all 90 minutes. The score remained 0:0 at the end of regulation, so it went directly into a penalty shootout. Ibraimi took the fourth penalty for Maribor, but his effort struck the post. Koper won 3:2 on penalties to claim the Super Cup trophy.

Meanwhile, over in Hungary, Videoton met Ferencváros in the Super Cup. Mirko Ivanovski opened on the bench for Videoton before he was introduced in the 36th minute to replace the injured Róbert Feczesin. The next minute, Ivanovski was fouled, drawing a red card for an opposing player. Despite Videoton playing with an extra man for close to an hour, they were soundly defeated 3:0 by Ferencváros.
Both Maribor and Videoton will now shift their focus to the Champions League qualifications. They each get started in mid-July.
