Safet Sušić and Ljubinko Drulović told media in their countries that Macedonia’s federation has not contacted them.
Two of the coaches linked with the vacant manager position for Macedonia, Bosnian Safet Sušić and Serbian Ljubinko Drulović, were both perplexed when asked whether they were candidates to replace Boshko Gjurovski. Simply, neither guy has been contacted by the Macedonian federation, both saying they found out from the journalists that asked them for comment.
Sušić said the following to sport.ba, “No one has contacted me. You asking me is the first time I’m hearing of this. I’m not a candidate and there is nothing about my departure to Macedonia.”
Meanwhile, Drulović noted this to novosti.rs, “This is the first time I’m hearing that I’m a candidate. After all, it looks like my name is always brought up for some coaching position when a manager gets dismissed.”
Based on their comments, it appears that whoever linked their names to the Macedonia post does not have inside information into the process. Instead, it looks more like throwing names around for the sake of throwing names around.
Ilcho Gjorgjioski, the president of FFM, has said that he plans to have a new manager in place by the end of April. They will hire a search firm to help them in the process. Gjorgjioski mentioned that preferred qualifications will first be written down for the ideal candidate before FFM then goes looking for the right coach that possesses those qualifications.
