Left-back Stefan Ashkovski is currently training with Strømsgodset, the defending champions in Norway.
The 22-year-old Stefan Ashkovski has joined Strømsgodset’s training camp, looking to impress the club’s coaches. He will train with them over the next couple of days and possibly play in a friendly or two before Strømsgodset decides whether to purchase Ashkovski. Stefan is technically still under contract with Partizan, but he has been told that he is free to look for a new club.
Ashkovski spent last season on loan with both Donji Srem and Napredak. Stefan spent the first half of the season with Donji Srem, while he was then sent to Napredak for the second half of the 2013-14 campaign.
Strømsgodset won the league trophy in Norway during the 2013 season. This year, after the completion of 13 rounds, Strømsgodset finds itself in 2nd place (trailing leaders Molde by 6 points). If Ashkovski was to sign in Noway, he would be the second Macedonian international to play there (the other being Daniel Mojsov of Brann).
UPDATE: We briefly exchanged messages with Stefan on Facebook. He told us Strømsgodset has followed him for the past 3-4 months. The interest began after the club watched him play during the two qualifiers between the U21 national teams of Norway and Macedonia, both taking place late last year. Ashkovski said more should be known about his status with Strømsgodset on Tuesday.
