Squad already undergoes changes for Belarus game

Mario will not be returning after allIt was a bad start to the week for Macedonia’s national team with the news that Mario Gjurovski and potentially Arijan Ademi could miss the upcoming games due to injuries.

Mario Gjurovski, the attacking midfielder, has definitely been ruled out as his spot has already been replaced by versatile Rabotnichki player Dushko Trajchevski. Gjurovski is still dealing with a lingering injury that has affected his form this season. During the past off-season, he could not train for 3-4 months due to that.

However, an even bigger blow would be the absence of Arijan Ademi. The defensive midfielder played for the Dinamo Zagreb reserves on Sunday since he served a yellow cards suspension for the first team. He wanted to get some action to maintain his playing shape. On Dinamo’s website, it was reported that Ademi played until the 48th minute. That’s not a very common time to get substituted, but at the same time nowhere in the text did it say that Ademi was injured. But, on Monday, the Macedonian federation published an article on their website that Ademi was questionable for the upcoming matches. He will get evaluated by the team doctors before a decision is made about his status.

Ademi captained Dinamo Zagreb II on Sunday

Defensive midfield is already a very thin position for Macedonia, so Ademi’s absence would be very bad news. More should be known about his availability over the next day.

To make matters worse, it also doesn’t appear likely that Uros Matic will receive FIFA clearance in time to suit up for Macedonia in the games against Belarus and Australia.
