Slovenia U21 – Macedonia U21 5:1

alt Disastrous loss for Macedonia U21 against Slovenia. Although just a friendly, Macedonia let in 5 goals, scoring only 1.

Obviously something is not right in the U21 national team. Not just a bad qualifications tournament in which Macedonia only has 2 points out of 6 matches and is last on the table, but this catastrophic result against Slovenia U21 in the last friendly match before the final 2 qualifiers against Greece at home and Portugal away clearly shows this.

Slovenia had no problem in the control of this match and fully dominated. They started attacking from minute one. After Slovenia’s Tolimir missed the goal, Mihelič did not made a mistake and put his team into lead. Plut scored another later, but it was ruled out because of an offside. Marčeta doubled the lead for Slovenia in 25th minute and it was obvious who were in control.

Until the end of the first 45 minutes, Plut had a chance in front of Macedonia’s goal and Macedonia’s captain for this match Agim Ibraimi in front of Slovenia’s goal but they both missed the target.

After several changes that both teams made on half-time, game did not looked much different in the second. Rep scored third goal for Slovenia just 6 minutes into the second half. Velikonja in the 56th and Mihelič once again in the 59th minute were the last two goalscorers for Slovenia U21. In the last 30 minutes match tempo slowed down which is understandable because of the many substitutions by both sides. Pelister’s full back Vladica Brdarovski scored the consolation goal for Macedonia in the 85th minute

Macedonia played the match with the following players:

Naumovski, Brdarovski, Lazevski (46′ Stankov), Urdinov, T. Petrov, Berisa (77′ Mecinovik), Cvetanoski (46′ F. Petrov), Ibraimi, Georgiev (77′ Petkovski), Aliji (46′ Muarem), Altiparmakovski (52′ Duranski).
